What People Say

If you fancy rowing a boat....
Pleasant, helpful guys at the jetty, who give you a quick run down of how to row, fit you out in life-jackets, help you onto your boat, and away you go. Boats are in good condition, and everything feels well organised and safe.
Impromptu boat trip with wee ones
What a fantastic thing to do at Lough Key! We arrived at 10:30, saw someone out on a row boat while we had some coffee, then within half an hour we were on the water ourselves with our two kids (aged 20 months old and 4). Was worried about the little one but the boat was big and stable enough that it was easy to keep her safe. The team could not have been more friendly, kind and helpful the whole time, especially the lad that helped us on and off the boat. Would recommend to anyone.
McDermott's Castle
You can rent a row boat to go out on the water and row around McDermott's Castle which is why we came here. We were lucky and had a gorgeous hot, sunny day and it was relaxing to come enjoy the park for a little while and go out in the boat for an hour. We laughed and enjoyed taking turns rowing, some people better than others. Got great views of the castle ruins. Unfortunately due to its decay you are not allowed to dock and explore the island anymore but it was still fun to go out and be near it. Lots of swans on the water as well and a cute gazebo overlooking it.
